Being back and being far away...

Ok...so apparently I'm giving serious thought to restarting this blog of mine. Cannot make any promises that I will actually keep at it, but I thought I'd give it a try. For two main reasons:

1. I just arrived in a far far far away place where I know nothing and no one, and I feel the sharing would be beneficial!
2. Hopefully, this will be a way to sort of keep in touch with all the nice people in my life, that will not feel like I'm talking complete bogus when I come back! The road here has been an eventful one. In my flight from Doha to KL, people all of the sudden started getting sick.
There was the mister who started moaning and then screaming with pain (though he would not really say what or where it was hurting him), who then went on to shout to his neighbour "I'm gonna kill you!", who then was fastened to his chair by the crew so that he would at least stay put (of course, after this he went on saying "I want out!!" and visuals of him heading straight on to the escape exit set on opening it came to mind!).
There was also the flight attendant who came to my neighbour (who was a medical student) to ask her if she can check on a lady because "I think she is not breathing" - but said in such a calm and non-urgent tone that it made me want to laugh sooooooo badly!!! :)
And then there was my seat neighbour who was from Bangladesh, studying in KL, but who was coming back from New York where she met for the first time in 10 years, the guy that had been her boyfriend for the past year. If that sounds confusing, it's because it is :) They had met during highschool and last year they reconnected online (what with her living in KL and him in Canada) and decided to get married. They had been boyfriend and girlfriend for the past year long-distance and now they finally met. Interesting story she had, to say the least :) Not to mention that when I asked what her parents do, she told me "My dad is a businessman. We own a hospital in Bangladesh."... things are very different in other parts of the world :)

I am now sitting in the common room of SOLS24/7 HQ (that's the organisation I'll be working for). They're actually doing lots of cool stuff in terms of work and projects here and they "live" in a huge building on the side of KL. I say "live" because the organisation is made up of mainly volunteers and people like me, from abroad, who stay in dorms here and work here also. It all has a very studenty feel to it. It's very different than what I've been used to in the last period of time and I am quite curious how I will adapt to it. I guess time will tell...I am still very much jet lagged so I will not be making my mind about anything now :)
