I'll start with something beautiful that my American room mate showed me. I found both the choreography and the music lovely!
Yesterday we moved to the training centre of the organisation and today was or first day of training. That did not go exactly as planned, just because...well, it did not feel very planned :)
After my Dutch experience, when I knew even months ahead what I will be doing and when, this is basically exactly the opposite. The Malaysians are relaxed...the course today was supposed to start at 9, it started at 9:20 and we were not the ones being late :) We thought we would be doing one thing, we actually ended up doing another. Lunch break was a full 2 hours, after which we got to sit in on some classes held by other teachers here. Those were fun! The kids were holding us in very high esteem...we (foreigners) are considered so special! They uuu-eeed a bit when I told them my age (see, even kids think I'm old!) and my Italian colleague got asked straight away if she was married. Her No answer brought about some slight confusion but we all moved past it quite peacefully :)
After finishing the class day, we decided to be posh Westerners and go to the mall. Not just every mall, but the expaty mall.
Since the weather is soooo hot here, malls are a favourite past time. The one that is nearest to us is huuuugeeeeee!! And it is filled with either rich Malaysians or expats :) So we went, walked around, ate a hamburger (I was very very happy at that point), shopped in Daiso (cheap Japanese shop...needless to say I now have lots of cute pink stuff), and when we came back to the dorm one of our students told me "You look nice". I found that especially amusing since we got this big lecture how Malaysia is conservative, people are not direct and public displays of affection are a huge NO NO!! And yet, the 15 year old had no trouble telling me how pretty I look after 2 hours of acquaintance :) (which obviously I do! :))
