Camping in the jungle!

This weekend I went camping in the jungle with people that I am now lucky enough to call friends. And I decided that it is an experience that should be had by everyone, at least once. It was so nice and different and made me remember why going into nature helps with whatever issue you might be having at the moment. I came back happy and relaxed, and for 2 days I managed to not feel the haze around me so much!

Now, needless to say that camping in the jungle is a bit different than camping in other parts. How? Well, for once, you never go camping in the jungle without proper equipment for dealing with mosquitoes and such. To my surprise there's special stuff that you put around the tent, that burn continuously and keep the bugs away. Secondly, the fire must never die!!! Or any source of light for that matter...for the same reason...keep creatures away! Thirdly, do not imagine that we camped in a set-up camping place. We basically went to a waterfall and set up camp in the middle of it all! :) Fourthly, contrary to what I expected, the jungle is not quiet. Not at all. There is no quietness in the evening...on the contrary, there's this constant murmur and various sounds that sound absolutely lovely and amazing! Fifthly, if it rains in the jungle, you put everything in the tent but you go in the waterfall!!! It's nice there as the water is warmer than the rain and the feeling of it all is just...how can I put it...surreal!

In case I have not expressed this well enough so far...it felt like one of those bucket list experiences, though I'm not necessarily one for bucket lists. I just hope to have more of these moments!

Some photos that have immortalized our experience!

That was us leaving the cars and setting forth!

That's the path to where we were staying.

That's the waterfall, though I did not catch the upper part...it went on for quite a while. The brave people there were a rock climbing club that was practicing there.

That's just pretty :)

That's all our stuff...

That's our fire and our sausages cooking on it :))

That's some us trying to get up and up and up...

And that's some of us and other friends, looking very tired but happy on the Sunday evening :)
